east germany was split from west germany after world war 2 in 1949

during times of cold war (west german) coca-cola products (mostly cans) were available in so called "intershops" which were built near the transit motorways. these "shops" only were reachable by foreign or west german people

only 1 day after the 9. november 1989 when the berlin wall was teared down the first coca-cola bottles were given to the people as a present

in january 1990 the first west german products were sold in east germany

the first bottling plant was opened in halle in february 1991, 4 months after the reunion of west and east germany which officially took place on 3. october 1990
